Shopify development services

A Shopify store that sells, not just exists

Shopify is a practical choice for brands that need to sell online without running their own DevOps: hosting, security, updates and scaling under traffic stay on the platform side. IWIS covers the full range of Shopify development services — catalogue design, turnkey Shopify store development, custom logic, private apps, integrations with back-office systems and support after launch.
We build for the Ukrainian market from day one: Shopify Payments is not available here, so payments run through LiqPay, WayForPay or Plata by Mono, and delivery through Nova Poshta and Ukrposhta with waybill generation.
A basic store goes live in 2–4 weeks. Tell us about your project and we will scope the work and the timeline.

Our approach

Stages of a Shopify project

The sequence is the same for a 50-SKU store and for a brand with thousands of items: business logic first, then structure, and only then the interface.

Discovery and analysis

We record product categories, purchase scenarios, payment and delivery requirements and the list of systems to integrate.

Catalogue architecture

Collections, tags, variants and metafields are designed before products are loaded, so SEO and filters work from day one.

Theme and front end

The theme is chosen on technical merit, not looks alone. Then it is adapted to the brand, or a custom Liquid theme is built.

Custom development

Non-standard cart logic, checkout extensions and private apps for the store internal processes.

Integrations and testing

Payments, delivery, CRM, ERP and analytics are verified in staging. Refunds and cancellations are tested separately.

Launch and growth

After launch we watch real behaviour: where buyers stop and which checkout steps cause drop-offs.

How long does Shopify store development take?

A basic store on a stock theme, with payments, delivery and a populated catalogue, goes live in 2–4 weeks. A project with a custom theme, non-standard cart logic or back-office integration takes from several weeks to several months. The driver is not the design but the number of integrations and the complexity of the business rules.

Can a Shopify store be built with a bespoke design?

Yes. We either adapt a stock theme to your brand design system or build a custom Shopify theme from scratch on Online Store 2.0, giving full control over the markup and the sections your content manager edits alone. The front end is built in Liquid. We watch speed closely: a theme with dozens of animations easily fails Core Web Vitals.

Do you develop custom Shopify apps?

Yes, we build private apps for a specific store: Admin API work, webhook handling, custom admin screens through App Bridge, background jobs. Typical tasks are stock and price synchronisation with an accounting system, internal reports and non-standard order processing. It pays off when subscriptions to several public apps cost more than your own code.

Can Shopify be integrated with CRM, ERP and other systems?

Yes. The exchange is built on the Admin API (GraphQL) and webhooks: orders, customers, stock, prices and statuses. We integrate CRM systems including Salesforce, ERP and accounting systems, payment gateways, delivery services, Klaviyo and analytics. Before development we fix the source of truth for each data type, the sync frequency and the behaviour on exchange errors.

Can you migrate an existing online store to Shopify?

Yes — from Magento, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and custom platforms. We move the catalogue with variants and images, customers, order history, content and navigation. The most important part is SEO: 301 redirects from old URLs, meta tags, canonicals and sitemap. After the move we reconcile the data, monitor indexing and test checkout on real payments.

What to know about Shopify development before you start

Why IWIS for Shopify development

When a business looks for Shopify developers or a Shopify agency, the question is usually the same: can the team not only build the store but keep developing it alongside the rest of the company systems. IWIS works as a full-cycle Shopify development company — analysis, design, development, integrations and support inside one team. Expert Shopify developers here means experience rather than a certificate: 8+ years and 90+ delivered projects, a large share of them e-commerce.

A few real examples. For Planeta Kino we built an in-house schedule and ticket sales portal in 3.5 months — the chain dropped its external provider and stopped paying its commission. For Ford Stolytsia we delivered multi-level car part search and payment directly on the site. For the VARUS chain — 110 stores and over 21,900 products — we implemented PIMCore as the single source of product data, with catalogue export over GraphQL.

These tasks are the same whatever the platform. If your business logic goes beyond what Shopify does sensibly, we say so straight away and propose other e-commerce solutions.

What Shopify store development costs and how long it takes

The price has two parts: the platform subscription and the work itself.

Shopify plans: Basic at $39/month, Grow at $105/month, Advanced at $399/month; paid annually, each is roughly 25% cheaper. Shopify Plus starts at $2,300/month. Basic covers most launches; Grow makes sense from around $5,000 monthly turnover, Advanced from about $30,000. Budget the gateway fee separately: in Ukraine it always applies.

Timelines: a basic store on a stock theme takes 2–4 weeks; a custom theme with back-office integration runs from several weeks to several months. Cost is driven by the number of integrations and the complexity of the business rules, not by the design. If the platform is not settled yet, start with our comparison of how to choose an e-commerce platform.

Shopify in Ukraine: payments, delivery and localisation

Payments. Shopify Payments does not operate in Ukraine, so card acceptance runs through a third-party gateway. LiqPay by PrivatBank supports Visa/Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Privat24 at 1.5%; WayForPay is a bank-independent aggregator with instalments from partner banks at 2%; Plata by Mono charges 1.3% for Ukrainian cards. Gateway approval takes several working days, so connect it in parallel with development. The process is covered step by step in our guide to payment system integration.

Delivery. Ready-made apps exist for Nova Poshta and Ukrposhta: weight-based rates, waybill generation, a tracking number for the customer. Zones, free-shipping thresholds and regional limits are configured per rule.

Localisation and legal. Language, currency, date and phone formats are handled in Markets, which also covers currencies and language versions for selling abroad. The platform does not replace business registration: the legal entity, terms of sale and returns policy remain the store owner responsibility. A full platform comparison is in our article on Shopify development in Ukraine.
